John J. Nagle III
Mr. Nagle joined the firm in 1981 and acquired broad experience in general practice before focusing on civil defense litigation and corporate law. He formed and now supervises the Bodie Nagle toxic tort section. He has argued in state and federal appellate courts; his reported cases include Owens-Illinois v. Zenobia, 325 Md. 420, 601 A.2d 633 (1992); Eagle-Picher Industries v. Balbos, 326 Md. 179, 604 A.2d 445 (1992); and Exxon Corp. v. Yarema, 69 Md. App. 124, 516 A.2d 990 (1986). His work has included virtually every type of negligence claim, and he has special expertise in complex toxic mass tort defense litigation. He also has handled insurance coverage disputes.
Mr. Nagle was president of the Baltimore County Bar Association, and has served on the Maryland State Bar Association's Board of Governors. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute, the Maryland Association of Defense Trial Counsel, and the invitation-only International Association of Defense Counsel. He has been reappointed by the Court of Appeals of Maryland to serve on the Character Committee of the State Board of Law Examiners (Third Judicial Circuit). Mr. Nagle is a former member of the Inquiry Panel of the Attorney Grievance Commission of Maryland. He served for eight years as a member of the Judicial Nominating Commission for Baltimore County.
Mr. Nagle has been active for many years in civic and community organizations, including United Cerebral Palsy of Central Maryland. He is a past President of the Parish Council of the Immaculate Conception Church in Towson, Maryland and former Trustee for the Immaculate Conception Elementary School. Mr. Nagle presently serves on the President's Advisory Council of Villa Julie College in Stevenson (Baltimore County), Maryland. He presently lives in Timonium, Maryland with his wife, Libby, and three children, John, Elizabeth and Michael.
Mr. Nagle attended the College of the Holy Cross (B.A., 1976) and the University of Baltimore School of Law (J.D., 1980). He holds an "AV" rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
